Merry Christmas and Season’s Greetings!

According to projections from the National Retail Foundation, the average holiday shopper will spend $1047 this season. That’s up 4% from last year. That’s the average spending! So what are you planning to spend or have already spent this year? Do you have a plan for spending that includes a list with target spending estimates for each person?  Being generous and buying gifts for family and friends is something many enjoy. As I’ve heard from many reliable sources, when you give you receive.

In another article I read from Chris Hogan of the Dave Ramsey team titled “6 Must-Dos for an Intentional Christmas” , he talks about being intentional and being with the people you want to be with during the season and not getting caught up in the hustle and bustle. He stresses spending with a purpose by having a list, sticking to your budget and saying no to items that might look great to buy now but will cause you to go into debt. Being strategic with your shopping time is another key. If you have the time to shop during off peak hours, you can get in and out quicker and it’ll cause you less time and stress of having to deal with long lines and crowded parking lots. Going screen free with your phone, laptop and TV while being present with family and friends is something he will be doing along with volunteering in the community.

So what’s your plan for the Christmas season?  Are you looking forward to being with loved ones and taking the time to remember the reason for the season?  So this season, is it about how much you spend or how much time you share with your loved ones?

P.S. Don’t forget to take time to untangle the lights! Merry Christmas and Season’s Greetings to you and yours!
